They may be serpents in this court, but I am not just a songbird. I’m a bird of prey. (1).

Once upon a time

there was a girl who dreamed of magic, monsters, and romance.

she grew up. but the stories never left.

I'm Braidee Otto, a romantic fantasy author of Songbird of the Sorrows, book one in the Myths of the Empyrieos trilogy.

I haven’t always been a writer, but I’ve always been a storyteller.
It wasn’t until I was nine that reading finally came easily to me, and when it did, a whole new world opened up. Suddenly, I wasn’t just a girl in a quiet classroom. I was a dragon rider. A sword bearer. A storm. And I never stopped chasing that feeling.

Since then, I’ve filled notebooks with magical worlds and characters who love deeply and fight harder. I studied Literary Studies and Children’s Literature at university, thinking I might take the safer path, but my heart had other plans. The stories never left. They waited.

Now, I write full-time from my home in Adelaide, South Australia, where I live with my partner, two spoilt dogs, and a cat who appeared on the winter solstice like a cosmic omen.

When I’m not writing, I’m probably reading, taking photos I’ll forget to post, or wrapped in quiet moments with my very own found family.
