frequently asked questions
ARE YOU AN INDIE OR TRADITIONAL AUTHOR?
Technically, I'm a hybrid author, which means I'm both. While my debut, Songbird of the Sorrows was originally self-published, it has since been acquired for traditional publication in North America by the Dial Press, an imprint of Random House. Rights have also been acquired by Penguin Australia for publication in Australia and New Zealand. I still have the rights for the United Kingdom and all other territories and will re-release an indie version in line with the new release dates. I am represented by Christabel McKinley from David Higham Associates for literary rights, as well as Rachael Sharples for translations, and Georgie Smith for TV/film.
HOW MUCH IS CHANGING BETWEEN THE INDIE AND TRADITIONAL EDITIONS OF SONGBIRD OF THE SORROWS?
The core of the story is very much the same, but there have been some considerable changes, mostly centred around refining the overall pacing (particularly in the first act), expanding trial scenes with heightened stakes, and giving more depth to certain characters.
One of the most noteworthy changes in this new edition is that the readers will be given more of the story to enjoy overall. I am very fortunate to have publishers who didn't object in any way when the final manuscript I delivered was longer than the original story.

DO YOU HAVE ANY BOOK TOUR PLANS?

Yes! In March, 2026, I'm joining Stacia Stark, Lily Crozier, and Bronte Marie-Wesson for Penguin Fantasy Fest. You can find more information about these events and book tickets here.
Since I'm based in Australia, travel can be a bit of a challenge. Whether a tour happens outside of Australia will likely depend on how Songbird of the Sorrows is received by the world, so I've got all my fingers crossed. I'd love nothing more than to hop on a plane and meet my incredible readers in person!

CAN I ORDER SIGNED COPIES FROM ANYWHERE?

Signed copies are available to order from Imprints Booksellers. These books will also come with a double-sided art print and Songbird bookmarks while stocks last. However, orders are only available in Australia.

CAN I RECEIVE AN ARC (ADVANCED READER COPY) OF DAUGHTER OF THE TEMPEST?

Yes! ARCs will be available to request on NetGalley when the book is ready for readers. For early updates on when they become available, I recommend signing up to my newsletter and joining my broadcast channel on Instagram, as they are the two places that will hear about opportunities first.
Just a note that I am not in control of ARC distribution. So, if you have any questions, please reach out to my publishers, the Dial Press and Penguin Australia.
